Buffalo and Coues Combo Hunts
Rio Sonora Outfitters offered a unique hunting opportunity in Mexico for the 2003-04 season.  If you are looking for a challenging Buffalo hunt, and not just a shoot, this is a true hunt for you.

After discussing hunting Buffalo with the ranch owner, we decided that up to 3  mature Bull Buffalo could be taken from the herd annually. The Buffalo are free ranging on the mountain range below, which also has Whitetail, so they can be hunted simultaneously by the same hunting methods.  Hunters will be accompanied by an American guide, and ranch cowboy in the field. Spotting and stalking, and monitoring where the Buffalo are watering will be the hunting method used.  Also, hunting off horseback is an option.

The combo hunt will be 6 days in the field. Prior to the hunt, ranch cowboys will locate and monitor the Buffalo, and will assist  hunters during the hunt.  Once the Buffalo is on the ground,  cowboys will field dress, skin, quarter, and pack out the animal.  At the ranch headquarters, the meat will be cooled and frozen and prepared for transport out of the ranch in coolers. The skull will be boiled and the cape fleshed and frozen at the ranch. Arrangements can be made to process the meat at the Wilcox Packing Plant, located approximately 3 hours north of the ranch in Wilcox, AZ.

The cost of the 6-day combo hunt is $7250.00, plus plus the Trophy Fee for deer.  The ranch cowboys will receive a      $250.00 tip for packing and repairing the meat, cape and skull. There is no additional charges for the meat, it's all yours.  For those interested is Buffalo only, the cost of a mature Bull Hunt is $3750.00 and an adult Cow is $2500.00 or two cows for $3750.00.

A $3000.00 deposit is required for the Combo Hunt and $1500.00 to book a Buffalo Hunt. As stated above, approximately 3 Bull Buffalo will be harvested annually so a chance at an older aged animal is very good.

All other ranch accommodations are the same as on any of the other Coues Deer Hunts. All food, drinks, transportation, guides, Firearms Transportation Permit (FTP), Hunting License etc. will be provided. The FTP allows for two firearms of .30 caliber or less and 50 rounds of ammunition per firearm. The Outfitter has two custom rifles avaialble to shoot for a nominal fee.
